Color Of Change is Inspiring a New Generation of Black History Figures
Black History Month is an event to celebrate the history of Black Americans, honoring their often underrepresented place in American and world history. However – this year especially – Black History Month can become a point for reflection, not only of Black Americans’ past, but their present and future. For too long, Black oppression has been minimized or ignored, and must be addressed for systemic change to occur.
This national reflection is echoed in President Joe Biden’s first Black History Month address, where he proclaims, “We have never fully lived up to the founding principles of this nation that all people are created equal and have the right to be treated equally throughout their lives. We know that it is long past time to confront deep racial inequities and the systemic racism that continue to plague our nation.” Racism is ingrained in much of American culture, and to be apathetic toward it is to be complacent in it.
At Impactree, we are committed to creating a more just and equitable society for everyone. That’s why we focused our February efforts around empowering racial justice action in accordance with Black History Month. We built a custom Action Hub filled with curated actions from leading resources and organizations in racial justice, giving individuals quick and powerful means of supporting the Black community.
Color Of Change
Every person has the power to stand up to racism and change the system. That is why changemakers need organized, collectivised, and powerful actions which amplify voices and demand change on an institutional level. This is exactly what the nation’s largest online racial justice organization Color Of Change offers, giving people the tools to respond effectively to injustice in the world around us – and designing campaigns powerful enough to end practices that unfairly hold Black people back.
Since 2005, Color Of Change has been using the power of the internet to educate and motivate those fighting for civil rights. Color Of Change focuses on discrimination from all angles, addressing media bias, economic inequality, corporate and tech accountability, and demanding criminal justice reform, including justice for the victims of police brutality. By harnessing the power of over 7 million members, Color Of Change encourages people to take action for racial justice and moves decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.
